Australian pig farmers provide their pigs with the highest levels of care and attention possible. Every farmer takes into account each individual animal’s health, welfare, and behavioural and nutritional needs. They must also meet stringent food safety standards and biosecurity requirements.

People in the pig industry can be piggery workers/managers/owners, animal health and welfare advisors, food and animal nutritionists, meat quality inspectors, environmental consultants, genetics and genomics researchers, laboratory technicians and pig veterinarians.

The lack of qualified staff at a piggery can mean lower pig productivity, risk to occupational health and safety and can impact on pig welfare. Consequently, the Australian pork industry relies on overseas workers to fill key skills shortages in piggeries. However, a Federal Government announcement will restrict the employment of foreign workers to fill these skill shortages from March 2018.

We are proud of what we do.

We do things differently and we’d like to show you.
